I was very kindly gifted the Skin79 BB Creme- which is famous for being the first Korean BB Cream brand. Skin 79 have revamped their entire BB cream line including the packaging and formula so I was excited to give this a try – considering I don’t really have a BB cream in my regime.
Skin79 BB creams are popular for being a makeup product that is closer to skincare with lots of benefits. Although BB creams weren’t invented in Korea they were first to improve them! Not only is the brand Cruelty-free , they continues to innovate, improve and develop its range of skincare products to adapt to different concerns and lifestyles. Skin79 believes that damaged skin needs 79 days to recover and regenerate, that makeup can be applied in 79 seconds, and that 79 minutes per day are needed for proper cleansing, moisturising and makeup application.
The brand has 7 shades that each differ in the formulations, 4 of which are available on K-Beauty store - Style Story.
Skin79 Super Plus BB Cream Hot Pink
Known for its ability to cover flaws, brighten skin and prevent oiliness. It is a natural beige colour that adjusts to match your skin tone.
Skin79 Golden Snail Intensive BB Cream
Combining skincare properties with a makeup formula, Skin79 Golden Snail Intensive BB Cream is jam-packed full of 45% snail secretion filtrate, one of K-Beauty’s favourite ingredients for hydrating, repairing and restoring skin. It also contains ginseng root extract, adenosine and niacinamide for skin brightening benefits.
This BB Cream comes in a natural beige Shade 23
Skin79 Super Plus Original BB Cream
One of the most popular Korean BB creams on the planet, Skin79’s Gold BB Cream contains gold and caviar extracts, to nourish dull, dry and tired skin and leave it looking instantly brighter and healthier.
Skin79 Bronze Super Plus BB Cream
This BB Cream is for those with deep tan and bronzed complexions. It combines dreamy ingredients like Vitamin E, collagen, sodium hyaluronate and niacinamide into a soft formula that instantly perfects skin.
The shade range isn’t very big with there being only one deep tone ( see gallery for shades), most likely because these are made for the Korean market – So I opted to try the Bronze Super Plus- it being the darkest available. Its not very dark but more golden so would be suited for deep olive skin tones or those with a deep tan.

As the product is described to be suitable for all skin types I was excited to give it a go, but I did find that it is creamy and has full coverage for a BB crème especially when used alone. As I have oily skin and I prefer a light coverage on a daily basis, so using this straight was a little heavy for me for all day. We have had the peak hot and humid weather in Melbourne so with my oily skin It wasn’t the most comfortable item to be using. This would be very nourishing and perfect for those with dry skin.Saying that I was still able to adjust how I used it and would much prefer to use this on its own during winter to give myself a little colour and also make sure my skin is benefiting with some extra skincare during the day as I do tend to get more dry skin.
As it does combine essential skincare benefits I was able to use it with very little skincare items and preferred to use the BB Crème mixed with another skincare item rather than alone. This gave me a lighter but still pigmented coverage and made my skin look healthy, dewy and gave it a lovely glow. I liked mixing a half pump with either some SPF or a oil free moisturiser which lightened up for the formula. This also made it quicker to apply with my fingers giving me a really smooth finish.
I felt my skin was very nourished & definitely hydrated. Overall I loved how my skin looked when I mixed the BB Crème as it looked more natural and it felt a lot more comfortable like I would expect from a BB creme. I did feel like it doesn’t completely set as it did remain dewy, so I did have the need to set with loose powder, but it did start to loosen up where my glasses sit on my nose even in the morning. Otherwise my skin looked great at the end of the day other than that extra shine I get regardless.
I have mixed feelings on the BB cream. It feels and looks amazing on my skin all day long but its just too creamy for an oily skinned person so weather depending it can feel a little heavy. Im looking forward to wearing this during Autumn and Winter as I do tend to steer more towards creamier products to help with my dry skin - so Id be able to incorporate this without the need to go heavy on base products and also have the SPF factor. It most defo feels lovely on the skin without optimising any flaws and as its dewy it kept my skin conditioned and looking fresh.
