MECCA BEAUTY LOOP L2 | JAN '19

February 5, 2019

The first Beauty Loop box of the year was sent with some items to refresh our current routines and discover some newbies. The items were aimed at giving us fresh summer with poppy colours.

I wasn’t too sure how I felt about the products in my box, but was also curious to see how I went with them as I hadn’t used any of them before. I was given products from Clinique, Stila, Dr Barbara Sturm and Dr Dennis Gross Skincare.

Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly

I have oily skin so opt for oil free moisturisers for the day time so was hoping this would work well for me. It is said to give 24 hr hydration, is oil free and is of a gel texture.

I actually really liked this moisturiser! I would a little dubious but although its weightless on the skin but skin felt hydrated with my dry tautness of my skin. It sinks into the skin perfectly with no sticky or shiny residues. It gave me skin a smooth soft plump feel too and was fab to use on days were I have to wear a heavier foundation.

The formula is also said to shield your skin against the damaging effects of pollution as it decreases the skins permeability by 87% keeping the skin protected and also locking in moisture. I will defo consider purchasing this when my current moisturisers finish.

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

I am a lover of thick full lashes and have heard some amazing things about this mascara. It has a similar brush to another well-known brand that I use so it felt a little like I was using that. However the formula is quite creamy and smooth so I found it quite difficult to build volume, like I can with other mascaras. As it is smooth there was no grip whilst I brushed through my lashes and excess which you need for volume just kept being brushed away. I liked it but I didnt love it! The forumula did feel confitioning on my lashes though and wasnt difficult to remove.

Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel

This cleanser has alpha  beta hydroxy acids which are said to deeply detox the skin keeping the skin clean and bacteria free and can be used both AM and PM. I like this brand so was excited to give the cleanser a go as I'm a fan of thier oil free moisturiser .I didnt need too much of the cleanser as it foamed up enough with a little water. It felt gentle on my skin and after rinsing away my skin felt refreshed and soft. To be honest It didnt feel any more special than some of my other gel cleansers. This has been used mostly in my AM routine.

Dr Barbara Sturn Glow Drop

The Glow drops is said to be hydrating and anti ageing and meant to give the skin a glow. It can be applied after moisturiser, ontop of makeup and mixed with other products. The serum is of a runny milky formula and there was really only enough for two uses in the little sachet so I used it directly onto my skin before moisturiser. It absorbed into the skin well and left it looking dewy. Its not overly shimmery either which I preferred.

From the selection of 4 I loved the Clinque Jelly moisturiser the most and will defo be purchasing it. The others I didnt feel were for me.
