GLOWY WINTER SKIN

June 30, 2019

Just because summer is over here in Australia, that doesn't mean you can’t fake that glow for the winter! I prefer dewy healthy looking makeup finishes rather than heavy matte - and to be honest with my normal/ combo skin It always ends up becoming dewy anyway. With the dryer weather your skin might also look more blah – I'm defo feeling it at the moment – So I just wanted to share some of my tips to achieve a beautiful flawless glowy finish in your makeup and skin routines so you can look and feel radiant.

The most important steps for beautiful skin is your actual skin and skincare. Having the prefect base will assist in your makeup applying better and looking smooth & fresh. I swear by exfoliating 1-2 a week ( I prefer physical when I want smooth skin) and keeping your skin hydrated and nourished. I use mostly hydrating serums and moisturisers before makeup and I like to let it sink properly into the skin before I add anything else. Currently I’m loving the Enbacci Microdermabrasion Exfoliating Scrub and the House of Immortelle B5 Rose Hydra Serum.

With my combo skin I do feel that for the everyday look, less is more and letting my skin shine through always lets me achieve the glowy look. Some days I may use a smoothening primer ( I do love the L'Oréal Infallible Pore Refining Primer) but most days just using a concealer under my eyes and on blemishes gives me enough coverage where its required and gives me a fresh look. I like using the Maybelline Eye Eraser and the Mac Studio Fix 24 hr Concealer.

If using foundations I like using dewy ones and nothing too matte as it can get heavy. I like the benefit hello flawless and a newbie from MeccaMax – Selfie Skin – which is a 2 in 1 Foundation/ Concealer . The Mac Face and Body is super sheer and gives an amazing fresh faced look so if I want a no makeup look – I would turn to this. Just apply with your finger, its very easy!

I don’t go a day when I don’t use my MAC Fix Plus Sprays! I use either the original, matte or the goldlite. I go crazy and apply before primer and also on top of concealer/ foundation to help loosen it and also helps buff product into the skin easily. They also hydrate the skin making it look plump and fresh.

You can also use illuminating primers/ liquid glows mixed in with your primer/ moisturiser / foundation to add a dew . I don’t use this step often but if have you normal/ dry skin it won’t make you look as shiny as It would on me throughout the day! Some good ones may be enough without the next steps and give you a golden goddess dew. I heard the Stila Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Colour is amazing and comes in 8 shades and gives tinted skin perfection. I would love to try this!

So the next few items that are the icing on the cake and just finishes off the glow. I love using the Hourglass Ambient Illuminating Powders. I don’t go crazy with these but do get a lovely glow. There are different shades for a different finish and at the moment the Lighting Edit Vol 4 holiday palette is always being used. I would let any base products set first and then use powder to avoid caking. Also if using a powder to finish off, only apply it where its required- you don’t really need to cover your entire face.

Last but not lease – lets highlight! I just use powder on my cheek bones, bridge of my nose and upper lip. Some days also the inner corner of my eyes to make me look more away. I  prefer a very fine highlight so you can get a natural glow look – compared to those with bigger shimmer particles. I highlight with more of a natural shade also can let you fake beautiful skin. I enjoy the ModelCo Moonlight and also the Poni Cosmetics Unicorn Champagne highlight as they are so sheer but packs light and sheen on the skin.

So that’s it! It’s not hard work – but some simple products and minimalism can give you a fresh glowy look- even in winter!
