Thank you to ClayBaby for sending me their Pink Rose Clay Mask to try out . I am a little forgetful when it comes to masking but adding this Rose Mask to my routine was a delight. It comes in a cute jar and I love the turquoise packaging against the pink mask with the twine ribbon.
The mask has very few ingredients making it natural , eco-friendly and nutrient rich. The mask would be most ideal for those with oily blemish prone skin but is will also be beneficial for those with dry skin.
The main ingredients and their properties are:
Clay is great for drawing out impurities and excess oils
Aloe Vera is an antioxidant and antibacterial and reduces inflammation on the skin. It also has healing properties and is hydrating.
Witch Hazel restores the PH balance of skin and removes excess oil from the skin without being too drying. It is most commonly used to treat acne and is used to tone the skin by tightening pores.
Lactic Acid is naturally derived so will deeply exfoliate and stimulate the skin. It is great for breaking down and getting rid of blemishes laying under the top layer of the skin and also breaks down the dead skin cells.
The mask itself may be a little lumpy in the jar so it will need a good mix to make it smooth again, due to all the natural ingredients it can slightly separate and solidify. I applied a thin light layer using a flat brush onto clean skin ( don’t exfoliate with a scrub beforehand!) As the mask has active ingredients you will get tingling sensation which is normal and if you have had a goodscrub beforehand it may burn.
The mask has a very strong rose scent which I wasn’t sure how much I liked but it was prominent and not the fragrance I’m used too.
Leave the mask on until it has dried or/but no longer than 10 mins. I have oily skin so the mask did not completely dry and the first time I used it, I made the mistake of leaving it on for too long waiting for it to dry and I was left was very sensitive skin.
My skin felt smooth and soft , my pores did looked visibly smaller/ shrunken and my skin looked a lot clearer. I was surprised because my pores never look minimal after i use products that claim to do this, so this was a great bonus for me. Your face may go pink, which is a good sign for the circulation in the skin and cell renewal. I did have tingling sensations after use when applying my other products so I used an aloe/ refreshing toner on my skin to help with cooling the skin and to add a refreshing feeling. I also thought best to avoid any other exfoliants for my skin care routine after use as I didn’t need anymore.
The mask has active ingredients so be sure not to use it at least 3 days before or after any laser hair treatments on the face ( I have to be careful as I do have laser treatments) and also to wear sunscreen SPF 30+ as you would when using any other products with active ingredients.
This is a great little all natural mask to add to my routine 1-2 times a week for which I have seen a visible difference to my skin compared to other similiar masks that I have used.
