I feel so lucky to have won another competition run by Dave Lackie! I recently won these beautiful Mac products on Dave's Instagram platform, by just liking his picture and tagging a friend. A few months ago I also won 2 Guerlain Lipsticks on his twitter platform. So when he got in touch with me for the 2nd time, I was so shocked as I would never have thought I would win again, let alone win to begin with, when he has people in the thousands entering. So thank you again Dave for sharing with your followers and making us smile :-)
I thought I would do a first impression look using these combined with some other favourites I have, to create an over all look and see what I think of these newbies.I used the Frost winked eye shadow, Rollerwheel liner and the Lip Liner in 'La Sultana'.
I teamed the Frostwinked Extra Dimension shadow with another shadow as it was too pale to use alone for my skin tone, so I used it in the inner corners of my eyes, to make them look more open and to give them a pop. The Extra Dimension Shadow has a slight green metallic hue that is only slightly noticeable. Its really easy and smooth to apply on the skin. Its quite sheer so if you want a heavy finish you can built up the colour slowly .
I was really excited to try the Rollerwheel liner as its a newer product from Mac and very unique. I did find it difficult to initially get a perfect line as I was holding the applicator at the wrong angle so the line wasn't thin and the side of the wheel was applying it too thick. I eventually figured out a more comfortable way of using it by creating smaller lines/strokes to join up. I wasn't able to get the right curve as it was a little difficult to move the applicator while rolling, so I ended up with more of a flat straight wing. Its not the most easiest product to use for a newbie and you definitely need some practice and a steady hand to create the perfect wing. As for the formula, I find it difficult to layer more product to make the line bold, so during the course of the day the wing started to fade and was a little flakey.
The Liptensity lip pencil was my favourite and I adore the shade La Sultana. The pencil it self is really smooth so it glides on to the lips well and the formula is not drying. My lips felt like I was wearing a creamy lipstick which became matte and it was very comfortable. I was able to get precision in lining my lips to get the perfect pout, which also stayed perfect for at least the 6 hours I wore it. This shade is a deep burgundy which I find suits my olive skin tone well. I also used a hydrating lip balm before hand, as always before I wear lip products.
Here is a first impression/ makeup look video I have put together using the products mentioned above. Enjoy x
