Current Everyday 5 Minute Makeup

Most days I really don’t spend too much time on my makeup. I either decided to sleep more before work, my other half needs me to get ready quickly (and reminds me I don’t need to dress up to go grocery shopping!) or I just want a low key day.

My everyday routine doesn’t include any foundation. Since I was at college I wore foundation more or less everyday whether it was work, college/ uni or going out, it was so normal. This time last year I decided to embrace my skin and show it off. I found that foundations sometimes made me look older, darker and I got more breakouts. A combination of working in the polluted city and having oily skin didn’t help with reducing blackheads and the best way to improve my skin tone was to eliminate foundation. These days I let my skin breath, especially now that I am in Melbourne living in the suburbs and the air is much cleaner!

I like to apply my makeup on freshly cleansed and moisturised skin. The makeup just sits better in my opinion! I start with some undereye concealer, I have been using the Maybelline Eye Eraser for a few years now. I only opened this tube about 2-3 months ago and I’m already half way through it! I like to apply it right under my eye and in an upside down triangle shape . This also highlights the under eye area making it brighter. I don’t have really dark under eyes so I’m good to use the nude shade. I also use this on the bridge of my nose and cupids bow. I then use the Mac Studio Fix Concealer in NC35 to cover blemishes. I do still get breakouts now and then so this concealer is heavy enough to cover it up. I also like to use this on some darker pigmented patched on my face. I like to use my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to blend it all in. I set the concealers using the Mac Skin Mineralized Press Powder . Not only does this set the concealers in place, it also gives the skin a nice finish and adds some depths and colour to the skin.

My eye brows are quite long and bushy in some areas of the brow so I use the Maybelline BROWdrama to set them in place and keeping them looking natural. I use Dark Brown and its gel adds a small amount of colour  to deepen them. I love using the BROWdrama as it keeps my brow tamed all day long. I need my lashes to be thick and lush all day, every day. I find its the most important product that helps me look awake and well. Although the Too Faced Better than Sex is my fave mascara, on a normal basis I tend to reach for Loreal’s False Lash Superstar. One end is a white fiber thickener which you apply like mascara but it adds fibers to lengthen and thicken the lashes. I leave this dry for a few seconds and then go over with the other end which is the black mascara. The brush is curved making it easier to apply. Sometimes it’s difficult to cover  up all the white fibers so I use the tip of the brush to touch up. You can go in with a double layer for lushness, but I find one is enough. The mascara lasts all day long without flaking and is also really easy to remove.

If I’m really pressed for time, I apply my Mac Skin Mineralized 'Gentle' Blush in between the two coats of mascara ( white and black). This allows more time for the white fibers to dry! The Blush is a simple pink to add some colour to the cheeks and it also has a nice sheen for dewiness. I like my Bobby Brown blush brush as its large enough to cover the cheek and also pinched so its elongated to allow a narrow upwards stroke. Last but not least,  I love using the Revlon Matte Balms and the Sultry shade is my favorite go to. Its creamy when applied but becomes matte and is effortless to use. It doesn’t require precision like a lipstick and doesn’t bleed out the lip line.

During the day my T Zone will get shiny, So I like using Boots Oil Absorbing Sheets to mattify the area up again.  The currently one I use is from Boots ( UK) and It doesn’t make my skin look cakey. It’s a more hygienic way to freshen up my skin. This is always in my handbag in a small freezer bag so they don’t get dirty!

My makeup only takes 5 mins to apply and is effortless. It gives me a fresh face look even if its 8 am in the morning and leaves me set for the day!
